Spondon
Spondon lies to the east of Derby. Once a stand-alone village, the area is now officially a suburb of Derby but still retains a strong community/village feel to it.
Spondon is home to some 11,000 residents and is also home to major industrial manufacturer Celense. Spondon has it's own rail station, although few trains now stop at it.
St Werburgh's Church in Spondon dates back to the 15th century and the village itself is referenced in the Dooms Day book. A number of other historical buildings still stand in Spondon, including Georgian townhouse, The Homestead, one of only three Grade I Listed buildings in Derby.
Spondon is also know in the area for its large Asda supermarket, once of the largest in the country, which has played host to a number of celebrities signings in recent years.
